Anna Hazare

Excerpts in Anna Hazare’s words at Jantar Mantar:

“Who has overturned Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s letter of assurance on a strong Lokpal Bill?

“Who is that powerful hand behind (which forced the standing committee to backtrack)?

“He is Rahul Gandhi. I don’t have any personal grudge against him. He is a youth, and dreaming to become prime minister.

“Staying in a jhopdi (slum) for one day will not make a prime minister. One has to stay in jhopdi continuously. You have to make sacrifices….

“To fight goondas, one has to remain clean, otherwise they will twist and pin us down. For my clean state, a contract killer turned down supari against me saying, ‘Anna tou sadhu admi hei’.

“The people are the real masters and gram sabha is above all…we should not take a penny from tainted corporate sectors, but can take support from good ones to develop villages…...

“75 percent of (the state exchequer) goes in the management of government officials’ cars and other (unnecessary) privileges….”

Journalism

"The whole aim of journalism should be service. The true function of journalism is to educate the public mind and read the mind of the country and to give definite and fearless expression to that mind. Public has the right to know the truth. It must be informed objectively as to what is happening. Definitely the Press has power, but to misuse it is crime. "

Mahatma Gandhi.

Slap

I use to fear slaps from mom when I was a kid, because of the very thought of watching stars in day light.

Friendship

"It is far too easy to sit in judgement for others, but no good really comes of it....

"Your grip on your friend shouldn't be so tight that it could snap nor lose that could break away."

Have a great day.

Always wait and watch the nature; it will give you enormous energy to face hostile human force.

Population

Photo-Picasa

According to World Bank 925 million people live in hungry.

According to UN's Food and Agriculture Organisation food production has to increase by 70 percent by 2050.

World population is expected to reach seven billion by October 31.

Elephantine problems, indeed!

Love

"Commit as many mistakes as possible, remembering only one thing: don't commit the same mistake again And you will be growing."

"The prejudiced eye is blind, the heart full of conclusions is dead."

"Dull intelligence is what is called intellect."
"Life is not a problem. To look at it as a problem is to take a wrong step."

The ego has to be dropped somewhere along the journey of life. But see that it doesn't end at graveyard.

Life was wonderful when people use to ignore me.

When people hate you and then mock you, life becomes very difficult.
Live life like trees, patience personified,
but living dangerously is the real joy.

Snakes and Ladders

Action!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Don’t bog down, for your fate is action-oriented even if life is like a game of Snakes and Ladders.

Fight it out till the last breath while climbing the ladders of success till you reach your destination, no matter how many times snakes swallow you and suck out your energy on the way.

Each time you find snakes pulling you down, start afresh looking for ladders, because life is all about action and gives you the same number of snakes and ladders to try your luck.

Come on, beat down your tiredness and swing into action once more as work is panacea for all ailments.

Even if you fail to reach to your destination, you must feel happy to have engaged the snakes whose basic instinct is to prevent others from reaching their destinations---a type of negative action.

Conquer yourself and snakes while making countless attempts to climb the ladders till you reach your destination.

Even journey is worth enjoying than reaching there, for once you reach there you will feel lonely---not even the snakes for company.

Ragging-Reply

Have a great day.

First reply from a friend on ragging.

It is natural for people who have no self-confidence to rag others.
It happens in colleges, universities, workplace, homes.
Even such chicken-hearted (please forgive me if you are bird lover
for using chickens) husband or wife rag his/her spouse.

Thank you,
Amitava

Ragging

Have a great day.

A journalist friend put these vital three questions before me to ponder over.

I would like to share with my readers.

“Is ragging confined to educational institutes only?

“Isn’t ragging there in professional journalism?

“Are journalists trying to convert journalism into an investigating agency with scribes pretending to become investigators?

“These are the vital questions to be addressed to save the profession, which has a great influence in social changes, from disintegration.”
