Sardar

Forward mail

We all love Sardar jokes. But do you know that Sikhs are one of the hardest working prosperous and diversified communities in the world.

My friend told me about the following incident which I wish to share with you.

It has had a deep impact on my thinking.

During last vacation, his few friends came to Delhi . They rented a taxi for local sight-seeing. The driver was an old Sardar and boys being boys, these pals began cracking Sardarji jokes, just to tease the old man. But to their surprise, the fellow remained unperturbed.

At the end of the sight-seeing, they paid the cab hire-charges. The Sardar returned the change, but he gave each one of them one rupee extra and said, ''Son, since morning you have been telling Sardarji jokes..

I listened to them all and let me tell you, some of them were in bad taste. Still, I don't mind coz I know that you are young blood and are yet to see the world..

But I have one request. I am giving you one rupee each. Give it to the first Sardar beggar that you come across in this or any other city.'
My friend continued,* ' That one rupee coin is still with me. I couldn't find a single Sardar begging anywhere.'

MORAL:

The secret behind their universal success, is their willingness to do any job with utmost dedication and pride. A Sardar will drive a truck or set up a roadside garage or a dhaba, put a fruit juice stall, take up small time carpentry, ... but he will never beg on the streets.

Time-3

Time is a great reminder

"Clock is a machine of great moral value to man,
allaying his concern for the future by reminding
him what a lot of time remains to him.

For a long time it had seemed to me that life
was about to begin-real life.

But there was always some obstacle in the way,
something to be Gotten through first, some unfinished
business.

Time still to be served, or debt to be paid.
Then life would begin.

At last it dawned on me that these obstaacles were
my life."

"We all have our time machines.
Some take us back, they're called memories.
Some take us forward, they're called dreams.

You may delay but time will not.

Time-1

"Time is free but it's priceless.
You can't own it but you can use it.
You can't keept it, but you can spend it.
Once you have lost it you can never get it back.

"Time is more valuable than money.
You can get more money,
But you cannot get more time.

"We are so obsessed with doing that we have
no time and no imagination left for being.
As a result, men are valued not for what they
are but for what they do or what they have-for
theri usefulness.

"Time is really the only capital that any
human being has, and the only thing he can't
afford to lose."

Time

Lost time is never found again.

Time is the strongest force of nature that surely rules both nature and human kind.

Time has three important impressions of its nature; Past, Present and Future.

It ruled the past that is why we call it history.

It rules the present and we call it development.

And it is always prepared to rule the future, so we call it vision.

Every person has different ways to relate and value time.

We often forget to understand its importance.

Some power packed words defining time and its control on ourlives is
perfect to remind us constantly, what a beautiful gift life has given to
us, in the form of time.

Some great quotations or words of expressions are just reflections

of our state of mind, how we feel and relate with life.

To make us understand the value and power of time.

Remember; Lost time is never found again.

"The man whispered , 'God , speak to me' and a meadowlark sang.
But , the man did not hear.

So the man yelled , 'God , speak to me' and the thunder rolled across the sky.
But , the man did not listen.

The man looked around and said , 'God let me see you.' And a star shone brightly.

But the man did not see.

And , the man shouted , 'God show me a miracle.' And , a life was born.
But , the man did not notice.

So , the man cried out in despair , 'Touch me God , and let me know you are here.' Whereupon , God reached down and touched the man. But , the man brushed the butterfly away .
and walked on.

I found this to be a great reminder that God is always around us in the little and simple things that we take for granted ... even in our electronic age So I would like to add one more: The man cried , 'God , I need your help!' And an e-mail arrived reaching out with good news and encouragement.

But , the man deleted it and continued crying .

Smartness is good, but oversmartness irritates others-----

"The modern-minded man, although he believes profoundly in the wisdom of his period, must be presumed to be very modest about his personal powers.

"His highest hope is to think first what is about to be thought, to say what is about to be said, and to feel what is about to be felt; he has no wish to think better thoughts than his neighbours, to say things showing more insight, or to have emotions which are not those of some fashionable group, but only to be slightly ahead of others in point of time.

World

Your hunger should be motivation for your success;

Your desire should be fodder for your growth;

Your impulse should be incentive for your aim;

Your persuation should be your provocation;

Your reason should be your push for work;

Your urge for knowledge should be your stiumulous.

These are the words which give comfort in unruly areas. There is nothing like putting one’s emotions in words. Enjoy how words rushing through your pen to help you out from this present state of turmoil that has been afflicting the society.

Still, you should work for the country with a nationalistic feeling and thinking at the same time for universal brotherhood.

Don’t afraid of people who don’t know their existence, but only know how to look for food----which even a bug, bird and beast do.

People take false pride in singing paeans of Lal, Bal, Pal and Gandhiji. In reality, they are cashing in on the images of these great patriots.

One can't but feel ashamed, pity and angry at those who don’t know how to lead the people...as this his world is not for sensible people, who, anyway, have taken a back seat, leaving people like .... ..... ........ , who have left things in a mess.

A place where respect and affection are equated with a strainer, you can’t expect much. Hooray !

Father - Because Ravan was an evil and pigheaded character who stole Ram's wife Sita.

Son - But the person who lighted the effigy himself is facing charges of bigamy and swindling of government funds.

The man hussed up his son and headed home without waiting the effigy to reduce to ashes.

Perception

Perception...Something to think about...
Bell

Washington, DC Metro Station on a cold January morning in 2007. The man with a violin played six Bach pieces for about 45 minutes.

During that time approx. 2 thousand people went through the station, most of them on theirway to work. After 3 minutes a middle aged man noticed there was a musicianplaying. He slowed his pace and stopped for a few seconds and then hurriedto meet his schedule.

Four minutes later the violinist received his first dollar; a woman threw the money in the hat and, without stopping, continued to walk...

Six minutes later:

A young man leaned against the wall to listen to him, then looked at his watch and started to walk again.

10 minutes:

A 3-year old boy stopped but his mother tugged him along hurriedly. The kid stopped to look at the violinist again, but the mother pushed hard and the child continued to walk, turning his head all the time. This action was repeated by several other children. Every parent, without exception, forced their children to move on quickly.

45 minutes:

The musician played continuously. Only 6 people stopped and listened for a short while. About 20 gave money but continued to walk at their normal pace. The man collected a total of $32.

1 hour:

He finished playing and silence took over. No one noticed. No one applauded, nor was there any recognition.

No one knew this, but the violinist was Joshua Bell, one of the greatest musicians in the world. He played one of the most intricate pieces everwritten, with a violin worth $3.5 million dollars.

Two days before Joshua Bell sold out a theater in Boston where the seats averaged $100.

This is a true story. Joshua Bell playing incognito in the metro station was organized by the Washington Post as part of a social experiment about perception, taste and people's priorities.

The questions raised: in a common place environment at an inappropriate hour, do we perceive beauty? Do we stop to appreciate it? Do we recognize talent in an unexpected context?

One possible conclusion reached from this experiment could be this: If we do not have a moment to stop and listen to one of the best musicians in the world, playing some of the finest music ever written, with one of the most beautiful instruments ever made.... How many other things are we missing?

Goose

"Unity of faith can ward off the destructive influences and brace the tottering structure."

This adage reminds one of the stories narrated in Chicken Soup for the soul.

A Sense of a Goose

Next fall, when you see geese heading south for the winter, flying along in ‘V’ formation, you might consider what science has discovered as to why they fly that way. As each bird flaps its wings, it creates an uplift for the bird immediately following. By flying in ‘V’ formation, the whole flock adds at least 71 percent greater flying range than if each bird flew on its own.

People who share a common direction and sense of community can get where they are going more quickly and easily, because they are travelling on the thrust of one another.

When a goose falls out of formation, it suddenly feels the drag and resistance of trying to go it alone---and quickly gets back into formation to take advantage of the lifting power of the bird in front.

If we have as much sense as a goose, we will stay in formation with those people who are headed the same way we are. When the head goose gets tired, it rotates back in the wing another goose flies point.

It is sensible to take turns doing demanding jobs, whether with people or with geese flying south.
Geese honk from behind to enourage those up front to keep up their speed.

What messages do we give when we honk from behind ?

Finally---and this is important---when a goose gets sick or is wounded by gunshot, and falls out of formation, two other geese fall out with that goose and follow it down to lend help and protection. They stay with the fallen goose until it is able to fly or until it dies; and only then do they launch out on their own, or with another formation to catch up with their group.

If we have the sense of a goose, we will stand by each other like that.

Ana Ivanovic

Tennis player Ana Ivanovic's observation on present day competition is not only apt on the Tennis court but also in other spheres of life.

"There is really not much friendship between the girls on tour. There's so much rivalry and jealousy, so everyone just hangs out in their own camp. In the Locker room and players' lounge you can feel the jealousy.

"It's a shame, because it would be so nice if we could catch up over dinner or go shopping. But, sadly, I have no close friends on the tour," observed the Tennis star.

Ivanovic can take a famous quote of Mahatma Gandhi and try to spread among her Tennis fraternity.

Team spirit

Team Work should be the catch phrase for every one, for without it nothing can be achieved and drives the team leader to nuts instead.

A football match can be a good illustration on how team spirit works or mars the result.

A striker dishes out a pass to his teammate and changes position in the rival territory anticipating the ball back at his chosen spot.

If he does not get the ball at the desired place frustration overwhelms him and he starts playing erratically, leaving the entire team in doldrums.

Mahatma Gandhi

What a thought !

"One day Mahatma Gandhi was boarding a train when one of his shoes slipped off and fell on the track. The Mahatma was unable to retrieve it as the train started moving.

Gandhi took off his other shoe and threw it back along the track to land close to the first, much to the astonisment of fellow passengers.

A fellow passenger asked him why he did so, a smiling Gandhi said 'the poor man who finds the shoe lying on the track will now have a pair of shoes he can use'."

Friendship

I got the following from a friend and would like to share with my readers. Actually few people understand such sentiments, particularly from where I am currently based.

What would you do if your best friend died tomorrow and you never got to tell them how you felt?

So, I just wanted to say, even if I never talk to you again in my life, you are special to me and you have made a difference in my life.

I look up to you, respect you, and truly cherish you.

Send this to all your friends, no matter how often you talk, or how close you are, and send it to the person who sent it to you.

Let old friends know you haven't forgotten them, and tell new friends you never will.

Remember, everyone needs a friend; some day you might feel like you have NO FRIENDS at all, just remember this e-mail and take comfort in knowing somebody out there cares about you and always will.

In times of trouble, In times of need, If you are feeling SAD, You can count on me. I will give you a wink, Until you smile, give you a hug, And stand by your side. I'll be there for you till the end, I'll always and forever, be your friend!

Praise

Once I praised a novice that he had potential to become a talented in his profession----lo ! from that day he felt like being on cloud nine, and started boasting among his fellow colleagues.

The following quotes may have been the outcome following presence of such characters on the earth.

“Misfortunes always come in by a door that has been left open for them.

“When sorrows come, they come not single spices, but in battalions.”

Decode

Strange people sometimes speak strange things. And today I had a strange feeling after meeting certain persons and listenting to their views, opinions and soloutions.

I cannot name them nor am I inclined to tell what they had to say on matters pertaining to certain people. But I can throw some light through picking up some quotes from a famous book.

"How about I allow the world to live as it chooses, and I allow me to live as I choose...You are already free....imagine that it is already there...I do not exist to impress the world. I exist to live my life in a way that will make me happy.

"I want to be loved. I am kind, I do unto others as I would have them do unto me, but still I don't have any friends and I am alone.

"I can't find lasting friends when I am an unlasting one myself...Just be who you are, calm and clear and bright...Think and grow rich...mile a minute is too fast for new ideas."

"A magnet is not anxious about how it works. It is itself, and by its nature it draws some things and leaves others untouched.

Now it is for the readers to decode the quotes.

Adrenaline

The dictionary meaning of Adrenaline is a substance produced in the body when you are excited, afraid or angry.

It makes the heart beat faster and increases one’s energy and ability to move quickly in whatever situation, like the excitement at the start of a race can really get the adrenaline flowing---which is natural.

If the rush of adrenaline is channelled positively then great results could be achieved by that particular individual----but it requires sincere and genuine cooperation from friends, wellwishers and relatives.

There should be a big 'no-no' to racial or parochial name-calling against adrenaline-rich persons, else the flow of adrenaline will be negative and could lead to disasterous consequences.

Car

Dear All

FOR YOUR SAFETY

Please do not turn on A/C immediately as soon as you enter the car. Open windows after you enter car and turn ON the air-conditioning only after a couple of minutes.

As per research, a car's dashboard, sofa, air freshner emits Benzene, a cancer causing toxin (carcinogen - take note of the heated plastic smell in cars.

In addition to causing cancer, it poisons your bones, causes anemia, and reduces white blood cells.

Prolonged exposure will cause Leukemia, increasing the risk of cancer, may also cause miscarriage.

Acceptable Benzene level indoors is 50 mg per sq. ft...A car parked indoors with the windows closed will contain 400-800 mg of Ben=zene.

If parked outdoors under the sun at a temperature above 60 degrees F, the Benzene level goes up to 2000-4000 mg, 40 times the acceptable level.... & the people inside the car will inevitably inhale an excess amount of toxins.

It is recommended that you open the windows and doors to give time for the interior to air out before you enter.

Benzene is a toxin that affects your kidney and liver, and is very difficult for your body to expel this toxic stuff.

Heart

I got this vital mail message from a friend. I would like to share with my readers.

Blood Clots/Stroke - They Now Have a Fourth Indicator, the Tongue

STROKE:Remember the 1st Three Letters....S.T.R.

My nurse friend sent this and encouraged me to post it and spread the word. I agree.
If everyone can remember something this simple, we could save some folks.Seriously..
Please read:

STROKE IDENTIFICATION:
During a BBQ, a friend stumbled and took a little fall - she assured everyone that she was fine (they offered to call paramedics). she said she had just tripped over a brick because of her new shoes.

They got her cleaned up and got her a new plate of food. While she appeared a bit shaken up, Ingrid went about enjoying herself the rest of the evening

Ingrid's husband called later telling everyone that his wife had been taken to the hospital - (at 6:00 pm Ingrid passed away.) She had suffered a stroke at the BBQ. Had they known how to identify the signs of a stroke, perhaps Ingrid would be with us today. Some don't die. they end up in a helpless, hopeless condition instead.

It only takes a minute to read this...

A neurologist says that if he can get to a stroke victim within 3 hours he can totally reverse the effects of a stroke...totally. He said the trick was getting a stroke recognized, diagnosed, and then getting the patient medically cared for within 3 hours, which is tough.

RECOGNIZING A STROKE

Thank God for the sense to remember the '3' steps, STR . Read and Learn!
Sometimes symptoms of a stroke are difficult to identify. Unfortunately, the lack of awareness spells disaster. The stroke victim may suffer severe brain damage when people nearby fail to recognize the symptoms of a stroke.

Now doctors say a bystander can recognize a stroke by asking three simple questions:
S *Ask the individual to SMILE.
T *Ask the person to TALK and SPEAK A SIMPLE SENTENCE (Coherently)(i.e. It is sunny out today)
R *Ask him or her to RAISE BOTH ARMS.
If he or she has trouble with ANY ONE of these tasks, call emergency number immediately and describe the symptoms to the dispatcher.

New Sign of a Stroke -------- Stick out Your Tongue

NOTE: Another 'sign' of a stroke is this: Ask the person to 'stick' out his tongue.. If the tongue is 'crooked', if it goes to one side or the other, that is also an indication of a stroke.
A cardiologist says if everyone who gets this e-mail sends it to 10 people; you can bet that at least one life will be saved.

I have done my part. Have you?

Shiridi Sai Baba

It was May 3 and time was 10.30 pm sharp. I managed to dodge the securitymen, who were driving out all devotees before the start of the evening Arati (prayer) inside the Shiridi Sai Baba Temple, about two-hour drive from Maharastra's Manmad Railway Junction.

I, however, managed to slip into an ante-room and found a couple of VVIPs chatting with ten/fifteen persons, and waiting for the last Aarti of the day. Except me, there was no other common devotee present inside the sanctum sanctorium at that hour.

The VVIP had brought two persons---one still photographer and another videographer, both shot and clicked away the pious image of Sai Baba, flouting the temple rules that warn against such acts.

I hope the temple authorities will take note of it in future. It's not a complaint, but a request to adhere to your own rules.

"Reading makes a full man; conference a ready man; and writing an exact man....A man may as well expect to grow stronger by always eating as wiser by always reading....

Cancer

I got the following human interest piece by mail, would like to share with my readers.

AFTER YEARS OF TELLING PEOPLE CHEMOTHERAPY IS THE ONLY WAY
TO TRY AND ELIMINATE CANCER, JOHNS HOPKINS IS FINALLY STARTING TO TELL YOU THERE IS AN ALTERNATIVE WAY .
Cancer Update from Johns Hopkins:
1. Every person has cancer cells in the body. These cancer cells do not show up in the standard tests until they have multiplied to a few billion. When doctors tell cancer patients that there are no more cancer cells in their bodies after treatment, it just means the tests are unable to
detect the cancer cells because they have not reached the detectable size.
2. Cancer cells occur between 6 to more than 10 times in a person's lifetime.
3. When the person's immune system is strong the cancer cells will be destroyed and prevented from multiplying and forming tumours.
4. When a person has cancer it indicates the person has multiple nutritional deficiencies. These could be due to genetic, environmental, food and lifestyle factors.
5. To overcome the multiple nutritional deficiencies, changing diet and including supplements will strengthen the immune system.
6. Chemotherapy involves poisoning the rapidly-growing cancer cells and also destroys rapidly-growing healthy cells in the bone marrow, gastro-intestinal tract etc, and can cause organ damage, like liver, kidneys, heart, lungs etc.
7. Radiation while destroying cancer cells also burns, scars and damages healthy cells, tissues and organs.
8. Initial treatment with chemotherapy and radiation will often reduce tumour size. However prolonged use of chemotherapy and radiation do not result in more tumour destruction.
9. When the body has too much toxic burden from chemotherapy and radiation the immune system is either compromised or destroyed, hence the person can succumb to various kinds of infections and complications.
10. Chemotherapy and radiation can cause cancer cells to mutate and become resistant and difficult to destroy. Surgery can also cause cancer cells to spread to other sites.
11. An effective way to battle cancer is to starve the cancer cells by not feeding it with the foods it needs to multiply.

WHAT CANCER CELLS FEED ON:
a. Sugar is a cancer-feeder. By cutting off sugar it cuts off one important food supply to the cancer cells. Sugar substitutes like NutraSweet, Equal,Spoonful, etc are made with Aspartame and it is harmful. A better natural substitute would be Manuka honey or molasses but only in very small amounts. Table salt has a chemical added to make it white in colour. Better alternative is Bragg's amino or sea salt.
b. Milk causes the body to produce mucus, especially in the gastro-intestinal tract. Cancer feeds on mucus. By cutting off milk and substituting with unsweetened soy milk, cancer cells are being starved.
c. Cancer cells thrive in an acid environment. A meat-based diet is acidic and it is best to eat fish, and a little chicken rather than beef or pork. Meat also contains livestock antibiotics, growth hormones and parasites, which are all harmful, especially to people with cancer.
d. A diet made of 80% fresh vegetables and juice, whole grains, seeds, nuts and a little fruits help put the body into an alkaline environment. About 20% can be from cooked food including beans. Fresh vegetable juices provide live enzymes that are easily absorbed and reach down to cellular levels within 15 minutes to nourish and enhance growth of healthy cells. To obtain live enzymes for building healthy cells try and drink fresh vegetable juice (most vegetables including bean sprouts) and eat some raw vegetables 2 or 3 times a day. Enzymes are destroyed at temperatures of 104 degrees F (40 degrees C).
e. Avoid coffee, tea, and chocolate, which have high caffeine. Green tea is a better alternative and has cancer-fighting properties. Best to drink purified water, or filtered, to avoid known toxins and heavy metals in tap water. Distilled water is acidic, avoid it.
12. Meat protein is difficult to digest and requires a lot of digestive enzymes. Undigested meat remaining in the intestines become putrefied and leads to more toxic build-up.
13. Cancer cell walls have a tough protein covering. By refraining from or eating less meat it frees more enzymes to attack the protein walls of cancer cells and allows the body's killer cells to destroy the cancer cells.
14. Some supplements build up the immune system (IP6, Florescence, Essiac, anti-oxidants, vitamins, minerals, EFAs etc.) to enable the body's own killer cells to destroy cancer cells. Other supplements like vitamin E are known to cause apoptosis, or programmed cell death, the body's
normal method of disposing of damaged, unwanted, or unneeded cells.
15. Cancer is a disease of the mind, body, and spirit. A proactive and positive spirit will help the cancer warrior be a survivor. Anger, hatred and bitterness put the body into a stressful and acidic environment. Learn to have a loving and forgiving spirit. Learn to relax and enjoy life.
16. Cancer cells cannot thrive in an oxygenated environment. Exercising daily, and deep breathing help to get more oxygen down to the cellular level. Oxygen therapy is another means employed to destroy cancer cells.

Thought

In this world of uncertainty where spare time has become a rare commodity, I destress myself from the following quotes.

Even the hands that make crowns of thorns are better than idle hands: Kahlil Gibran

In my father's garden there are two cages. In one is a lion, which my father's slaves brought from the desert of Ninavah; in the other is a songless sparrow.

Every day at dawn the sparrow calls to the lion, "Good morrow to thee, brother prisoner: Kahlil Gibran.

Granny's humility

This is an email that has been forwarded to me by my friend Mr Nirmalaya Nag, and am using it in my blog because I was thrilled after reading it. I think people will appreciate in pasting it in my blog. Regards

THE TIMES - - Letter of the Year: A SENIOR MOMENT - (I PRAY TO GOD THAT I HAVE THEM LIKE THIS......)

An elderly lady actually wrote this letter to her bank. The bank manager thought it amusing enough to have it published in The Times and this newspaper thanks him most sincerely.

Dear Sir,

I am writing to thank you for bouncing my cheque with which I endeavoured to pay my plumber last month.

By my calculations, three 'nanoseconds' must have elapsed between his presenting the cheque and the arrival in my account of the funds needed to honour it.

I refer, of course, to the automatic monthly deposit of my Pension, an arrangement which, I admit, has been in place for only eight years. You are to be commended for seizing that brief window of opportunity, and also for debiting my account £30 by way of penalty for the inconvenience caused to your bank.

My thankfulness springs from the manner in which this incident has caused me to rethink my errant financial ways. I noticed that whereas I personally attend to your telephone calls and letters, when I try to contact you, I am confronted by the impersonal, overcharging, re-recorded, faceless entity which your bank has become.

From now on, I, like you, choose only to deal with a flesh-and-blood person.

My mortgage and loan payments will therefore and hereafter no longer be automatic, but will arrive at your bank by cheque, addressed personally and confidentially to an employee at your bank whom you must nominate.

Be aware that it is an offence under the Postal Act for any other person to open such an envelope.

Please find attached an Application Contact Status which I require your chosen employee to complete. I am sorry it runs to eight pages, but in order that I know as much about him or her as your bank knows about me, there is no alternative.

Please note that all copies of his or her medical history must be countersigned by a Solicitor, and the mandatory details of his/her financial situation (income, debts, assets and liabilities) must be accompanied by documented proof.

In due course, I will issue your employee with a PIN number which he/she must quote in dealings with me. I regret that it cannot be shorter than 28 digits but, again, I have modelled it on the number of button presses required of me to access my account balance on your phone bank service. As they say, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

Let me level the playing field even further.
When you call me, press buttons as follows:

1-- To make an appointment to see me.
2-- To query a missing payment.
3-- To transfer the call to my living room in case I am there.
4-- To transfer the call to my bedroom in case I am sleeping.
5-- To transfer the call to my toilet in case I am attending to nature.
6-- To transfer the call to my mobile phone if I am not at home.
7-- To leave a message on my computer (a password to access my computer is required. A password will be communicated to you at a later date to the Authorized Contact.)
8-- To return to the main menu and to listen to options 1 through 89-- To make a general complaint or inquiry, the contact will then be put on hold, pending the attention of my automated answering service.

While this may, on occasion, involve a lengthy wait, uplifting music will play for the duration of the call.

Regrettably, but again following your example, I must also levy an establishment fee to cover the setting up of this new arrangement.

May I wish you a happy, if ever so slightly less prosperous, New Year. Your Humble Client ************ ********* ****** Addendum from The Editor:

IMPORTANT to REMEMBER that this letter was written by a lady who is a 98-year-old woman; DOESN'T SHE MAKE YOU PROUD!!!?

Namaskar

I always love to greet with a big namaskar (Indian-sytle to greet others) to all and sundry. But I fail to understand the moment I say namaskar, the person am talking to pitches in a domineering manner, as if am his servant. In most cases they end up in voice as if they are my bosses.

Still I try to ignore their snubs and bossy replies, consouling myself with Gandhian thoughts.

Whoever reads this blog should come up with comments as to how to deal with such persons.

Here I would like to quote E. H. Richards---"A wise old owl sat on an oak, the more he sat the less he spoke; the less he spoke the more he heard; why aren't we like that wise old bird?

Come on brothers let us not belittle one another by arrogant talks.

Heart

Valuable Piece of information

Let's say it's 6.15 pm and you're going home (alone of course), after an unusually hard day on the job. You're really tired, upset and frustrated.

Suddenly you start experiencing severe pain in your chest that starts to radiate out into your arm and up into your jaw.

You are only about five miles from the hospital nearest your home. Unfortunately you don't know if you'll be able to make it that far. You have been trained in CPR, but the guy that taught the course did not tell you how to perform it on yourself.

HOW TO SURVIVE A HEART ATTACK WHEN ALONE

Since many people are alone when they suffer a heart attack, without help, the person whose heart is beating improperly and who begins to feel faint, has only about 10 seconds left before losing consciousness.

However, these victims can help themselves by coughing repeatedly and very vigorously. A deep breath should be taken before each cough, and the cough must be deep and prolonged, as when producing sputum from deep inside the chest.

A breath and a cough must be repeated about every two seconds without let-up until help arrives, or until the heart is felt to be beating normally again.

Deep breaths get oxygen into the lungs and coughing movements squeeze the heart and keep the blood circulating. The squeezing pressure on the heart also helps it regain normal rhythm. In this way, heart attack victims can get to a hospital. Tell as many other people as possible about this.. It could save their lives!!

A cardiologist says If everyone who gets this mail sends it to 10 people, you can bet that we'll save at least one life. Rather sending jokes pls contribute by forwarding this mail which can save a person's life...

Civility

I have also learned that 'the good life is one inspired by love and guided by knowledge', and not by shouting and fighting like dogs on the street. We should not forget that there should be civility in our arguement.

According to a great author, the fundamental motives that appeal to most persons are 'acquisitiveness', 'vanity', 'rivalry', and 'love of power'. Still one should not forget civility while longing to attain these four basic drives.

Thought

To further your ambtions you should neither resort to wrongful doctrines nor intrude into the domain of others with deceitful approaches to secure yourself in the present slowdown.

Therefore, to lessen stress amidst global meltdown one should avoid all extreme steps, excessive desires, material ambitions and work hard to sustain the phase---always keeping this age-old maxim 'This shall, too, pass away."

We all love to talk and belch out our views and never bother to observe things, but "There is no more difficult art to acquire than the art of observation."

civility

Sometimes I wonder whether we are really in a civil society. This feeling strikes my mind when I am deprived of civility in replies I get from some people. This reminds me how "Civilised life has grown altogether too tame, and, if it is to be stable, it must provide harmless outlets for the impulses which our remote ancestors satisfied in hunting...sometimes in an unconscious or sub-conconscious terror which finds expression only in dreams....the man who wishes to preserve sanity in a dangerous world should summon in his own mind a parliament of fears, in which each in turn is voted absurd by all the others."

Mind your business

A certain man was very open before his new friends, thinking that they will admire his sentiments.

He continued even after getting jerks and insults from his friends, ignoring them with an approach of broadness.

But when the friends started to intrude into his personal matters, suddently the famous adage struck him; "If you keep your mind sufficiently open, people will throw a lot of rubbish into it."

The adage, in fact, saved him from further humiliation. From then onwards it's good bye and over. God bless them.

Witty

Beware of professional rivals, who gang up to pin down an individual against whom they fail to compete. Because ....."What is most lacking in the modern world is genial, good-natured tolerance; and what is most hostile to this is a harsh and dogmatic morality which condemns the majority of the human race as reprobates. Against solemnity, the best weapon is wit." Therefore, be witty to handle them or you will lose interest to work in their field, and that is what they desire.

Bureaucracy

It is not unusual for a politician, upon becoming a minister, to keep people waiting at his doors. But there are also some bureaucrats who take credit in keeping people waiting for hours, and sometimes days, maybe they are not aware of the saying; “They also serve who only stand and wait.”

Count on your blessings - II

I shared something with my wife, and she asked me to read the following from 'Atlas Shrugged', and I would like to share with my readers who might not have read the book as yet.

“....I, who thought that I was fighting them, I had accepted the worst of our enemies’ creed---and that is what I’ve paid for ever since, as I am paying now and as I must.

"I had accepted the one tenet by which they destroy a man before he is started, the killer-tenet: the breach between his mind and body. I had accepted it, like most of their victims, not knowing it, not knowing even that the issue existed.

"I rebelled against their creed of human impotence and I took pride in my ability to think, to act, to work for the satisfaction of my desires. But I did not know that this was virtue, I never identified it as a moral value, as the highest of moral values, to be defended above one’s life, because it’s that which makes life possible. And I accepted punishment for it, punishment for virtue at the hands of an arrogant evil, made arrogant solely by my ignorance and my submission.

“I accepted their insults, their frauds, their extortions. I thought I could afford to ignore them---all those impotent mystics who prattle about their souls and are unable to build a roof over their heads.

"I thought that the world was mine, and those jabbering incompetents were no threat to my strength. I could not understand why I kept losing every battle. I did not know that the force unleased against me was my own. While I was busy conquering matter, I had surrendered that which all of their claptrap is designed to subvert and to destroy: man’s reason. No, they were not able to deal with matter, to produce abundance, to control this earth. They did not have to. They controlled me.

“I, who knew that wealth is only a means to an end, created means and let them prescribe my ends. I, who took pride in my ability to achieve the satisfaction of my desires, let them prescribe the code of values by which I judged my desires. I, who shaped matter to serve my purpose, was left with a pile of steel and gold, but with my every purpose defeated, my every desire betrayed, my every attempt at happiness frustrated….

Humour

We think it is our right to cut jokes at the cost of others, but have you ever felt the urge to look into the victim's trauma of being insulted among his/her peers. Let us not forget the fact that "Whatever pleasant to oneself is pleasant to all, and that whatever is painful to oneself is painful to all."

One should not take another for granted. It is better if one guards while speaking, emitting, grasping, opening and closing the mouth in order to respect others.

Arthur Ashe

ONE PARAGRAPH THAT EXPLAINS LIFE!

Arthur Ashe, the legendary Wimbledon player was dying of AIDS which he got due to infected blood he received during a heart surgery in 1983.

From the world over, he received letters from his fans, one of which conveyed:

"Why does GOD have to select you for such a bad disease"?

To this Arthur Ashe replied: "The world over -- 50 million children start playing tennis, 5 million learn to play tennis, 500,000 learn professional tennis, 50,000 come to the circuit, 5000 reach the grand slam, 50 reach Wimbledon, 4 to the semi final, 2 to the finals, when I was holding the cup I never asked GOD 'Why me?'. And today in pain I should not be asking GOD 'Why me?' We count our pains, but not our blessings.

A plea to all and sundry

There once was a little boy who had a bad temper. His Father gave him a bag of nails and told him that every time he lost his temper, he must hammer a nail into the back of the fence.

The first day the boy had driven 37 nails into the fence. Over the next few weeks, as he learned to control his anger, the number of nails hammered daily gradually dwindled down.

He discovered it was easier to hold his temper than to drive those nails into the fence. Finally the day came when the boy didn't lose his temper at all.

He told his father about it and the father suggested that the boy now pull out one nail for each day that he was able to hold his temper. The days passed and the young boy was finally able to tell his father that all the nails were gone.

The father took his son by the hand and led him to the fence. He said,"You have done well, my son, but look at the holes in the fence. The fence will never be the same. When you say things in anger, they leave a scar just like this one. You can put a knife in a man and draw it out. It won't matter how many times you say "I'm sorry", the wound is still there. A verbal wound is as bad as a physical one."

My friend, please forgive me if I have ever left a hole.

Politicians

Can you tell whose observation is the following master piece ?

“Political affairs of the state…were governed by incompetent and self-seeking politicians… (he was) very much disgusted with this rule of incompetence and selfishness…When I considered all these, the type of men who were administering affairs, and the condition of the law and of public morality—the more I considered it and the older I grew, the more difficult appeared to me the task of decent government.

“It was impossible to take action without friends or political associates, and these it was not easy to find among the politicians, since their method of government were false to the true principles…. To find new men for the job, however, was impossibility.

“Moreover, statutes and uses alike were degenerating in- --- with surprising rapidity, and so, although at first I was filled with an ardent desire to enter politics, when I considered all this and saw how chaotic the political situation was, I felt, completely baffled.

“I continued to consider how on earth some improvement could be brought about, not only in the administration, but also in society as whole, and I was constantly on the look out for an opportunity to intervene. But finally I came to the conclusion that… the state of legislation…is so deplorable that no government is possible without drastic reconstruction, combined with some very good luck….”

Satyam

Had the super boss of Satyam company followed the following adage he would have not only saved himself from the plight he is in but also saved the future of his employees.

“Investment and saving can be brought about only by the inculcation of new values (particularly during one's ascendancy)….Loss of value creates vacuum in the personality...Put not your trust in money but put your money in trust.”

----------
Why politicians are always at the receiving end when things go wrong ?

“They make mistake of overestimating their own value.”

Happiness

Can the following line fit for those not inclined to work ?

"People who never do any work never have any holiday."

Want to know what all work keeps away ?

"Work keeps at bay three great evils: boredom, vice and need."

Where do we find real happiness ?

"Happiness I have discovered, is nearly always a rebound from hard work."
